The HK Prize and Its Winners

The hk prize is an award that recognizes the hard work of local people in different industries and sectors. The award provides winners with cash prizes, travel expenses, and other perks. This year’s nominees included activists fighting for freedom and democracy — some of whom are currently in prison or facing jail time — as well as social justice and community service initiatives, such as a nonprofit providing shelter to homeless adults. These individuals are a testament to the human spirit that triumphs even under duress.

The Hong Kong Prize was established in 2005 by merging the Hong Kong Industry and Hong Kong Service awards. It is a competition in which each organiser takes responsibility for drawing up the rules of its respective award category, publicising the competition, inviting entries and conducting a preliminary evaluation of them. The award category on Customer Service, organized by the Hong Kong Retail Management Association, has been an annual highlight of the HK Prize with keen participation from companies in a wide range of business sectors, including retailing, banking and finance, catering, hotel, property management, telecommunications, and travel agencies.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE has five award fields, namely Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, and FinTech. Each field reward can only be given to one person or team per year. Nominees are selected by the Board, which is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the articles of this Charter; suggesting important scientific research fields to be awarded; appointing members of the Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; setting requirements of nominating experts; and verifying the final review results. The Secretariat is operated by the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre.

One of the reasons why BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PRIZE is so successful is its rigorous assessment process. The evaluation is conducted by a panel of judges with expert knowledge in the respective field, and is overseen by an independent review board. The judging panel selects candidates based on their innovativeness, the quality of their work, and the social or economic value they have created. The results of the evaluation are announced at an award ceremony.

The HK Phil is honored to receive this prize, and we are very grateful to the government of Hong Kong SAR and our Principal Patron the Swire Group, as well as music-lovers around the world who have supported us throughout this four-year project to perform and record Wagner’s Ring Cycle. We look forward to continuing to inspire the audience with our musicality and passion, and making Hong Kong an international hub for arts and culture in the years to come.
